Renee Jensen
Artist Statement
I am a Canadian, multidisciplinary artist shaped by the landscapes of South Georgian Bay and my experience with the quiet beauty of our natural surroundings. Through landscape, figures, and fading flora, it's my ongoing mission to explore the relationship between time, transformation, and perception.
I work primarily with charcoal and oil paint, using charcoal for its raw, expressive mark-making and oil for its slower, more patient process of building depth and intention. This combination allows me the freedom to work both from feeling and careful observation. My practice extends into material exploration, as seen in Reclaimed and Flora in Time, both reflecting ecological resilience and the complexities of nature.

Artist Bio & CV
Born in Collingwood, Ontario, Renee grew up immersed in the natural landscapes of South Georgian Bay, an environment that continues to shape her artistic practice. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Waterloo, where she majored in Fine Arts and minored in Business and Entrepreneurship - an academic foundation that moulds both her creative and professional approach.
Working primarily in charcoal and oil, Renee explores themes of impermanence, transformation, and ecological awareness through landscapes, figures, and fading flora. Her work reflects a deep sensitivity to place and time, drawing attention to the fragility of our natural existence.
Her work has been exhibited at the University of Waterloo Art Gallery (2023), Homer Watson House and Gallery (2023), Artbank Collective (2024), Thornbury Craft co., and the Highlands Art and Tree Trail (2025). What continues to drive Renee's work is her exploration of the natural world, and the desire to capture these fleeting moments through her human experience.
